EDUCATION: KEY PRIORITIES
- Develop and sustain innovative multidisciplinary academic courses, research and programs which advocate and advance global health.
- Enhance education opportunities for work/study at UofT and in developing countries
- To enable excellence in global health education and facilitate opportunities for capable and motivated students from UofT (and elsewhere…we have various examples of placing other universities’ students, e.g. McGill, Queen’s, Western Ontario, UBC, USA, etc.).
- To identify and attract international scholars and students to the UofT and CIH initiatives.
BENCHMARKS IN EDUCATION
- Consistent, growing number of requests for the Centre for International Health to enable, facilitate global health education and collaborate at UofT (e.g. with DeptPHS, Faculty of Arts & Science’s Human Biology Program and Health and Disease Program, and the International Development Studies Program at Scarborough Campus) and with strategic international universities and organizations.(e.g. Development of network between UofT students and universities in China, India, Africa, South America and across Canada).
- Excitement for learning about and contributing to global health issues as evidenced by continually growing numbers of students (many of whom report that they are chosing the UofT because of the global health offerings).
- Students, in collaboration with CIH are motivated to organize first rate conferences, meetings, lectures and events with themes related to global health.
